Day of the Dead

You can’t go wrong with an assortment of spooktacular Halloween decor –  as seen on my BOO Y’ALL roundup. But, if you are looking to be a bit more creative, you can throw a Dia De Los Muertos party. I love the idea of such a specific Halloween theme and, if you really want to take it up a notch, request that your guests come in themed attire with amazing face paint and florals to boot. (Also, skulls are cool – so you may be purchasing for Halloween, but a lot of these items will be chic year-round!)

There are tons of cute options this year for Day of the Dead plastic plates. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites below:

This black platter and matching salad plate set from Williams Sonoma are skele-fun! The quality is top-notch and I love the color scheme. These items are definitely ones you will want to pull out every year.

I actually own this novelty shape Sugar Skull platter – it’s 11 inches and perfect for serving cake, assorted desserts or as a charcuterie board.

This candy bowl and serving bowl might be my two favorite items on this entire list. And the decanter would look wicked on my bar cart.

Dinnerware Set

For those dinner party-loving fools, this Day of the Dead set is faBOOlous! It’s clean and pretty, while managing not to be cheesy or cheap-looking. I could definitely see myself breaking out this set year-round.

My favorite centerpiece is this mariachi band – it’s spooky, but there’s also something endearing and comical about them. I also love that the animals are unique and allow for some variety in the decor.

These coasters are bad-ass. Regardless of the theme, I would be breaking these out every Halloween!

If you feel like you are overloading your shopping cart with sugar skulls, a great way to diversify your decorations are these fiesta flower tissue pompoms. They would be great to scatter among your tables or tape on the wall. The nice thing about the Day of the Dead theme is that it invites color versus the typical black/white/orange Halloween color scheme.

I guarantee you won’t find better Dia De Los Muertos tablecloths than these. If not using them on a dining or buffet table, I would hang one on the wall or in a doorway.

You can’t do Dia de Los Muertos without candles. I love this set of minis, but the assortment of colored candle holders would be the better long-term option.

While I really love these black and white lanterns, there’s something especially eerie about the floral skull fans that I am particularly drawn to.

Tea Towels

I always like to offer some options for those who aren’t planning on hosting a party, but still enjoy getting into the holiday spirit. A tea towel is a great and easy way to add a touch of festive flair in your home. (Another fun touch are salt + pepper shakers or a spoon rest.)

As I mentioned in my BOO Y’ALL post, Halloween brings a lot of action to your front steps. So even if you aren’t throwing a big monster bash, a themed entry way can go a long way.
